Closing track ‘ Tricks On Me‘ changes things up with a more summery, Caribbean-type beat and nice overall mood to take things out on a high note. Future also managed a Travis Scott feature in ‘ First Off,’ which is another solid track all around, though it’s not terribly impressive overall.
From the flow to the beat change, everything about ‘F&N’ makes it one of the album’s most successful tracks. The highlight of this record is ‘ F&N,’ where Future actually delivers consistently throughout the track. This is when the music on The WIZRD shines particularly because it involves the beats. Hip-hop especially is prone to trends, and Future makes sure to jump on some of them on The WIZRD. To keep on top, you have to prove that you’re able to adapt to an ever-changing landscape of music. The challenge of being a top influencer in a genre seems to get to Future in Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD as filler dominates the record even while he employs current trends. Future’s had ups and downs in his career, yet it feels like he’s never nailing it. While Future’s influence and importance to trap cannot be denied, the consistency of his music isn’t quite so. Hopefully, he continues to get out of the slow decline he has been in ever since “BEASTMODE 2” by making his next album one of his best. The Atlanta and trap rap scenes both have Future to thank for helping put them on the map. The main thing that this album accomplishes is showing that Future still has the potential to make classic trap songs. This album definitely isn’t on the level of Future’s classics like “DS2” and “FUTURE”, but it is a major improvement from his last solo album: “BEASTMODE 2”. Overall, this song further proves that Future and Travis make great collaborations. Future also shows has some great lines on this song which you can see with the standout lyric. Travis doesn’t disappoint on this song coming in with great verses like, “Used to spend checks on my Nikes, now they pay me”. “I put the Patek water on, but I got options”įuture and Travis Scott on “First Off” exchange verses detailing their luxurious lifestyles while looking back at their journey to the top. This type of introspective song is rare for Future and it’s exciting to see him continuing to develop his style with unique songs like this. Future on “Never Stop” plunges the listener into his life and struggles. “Never Stop”, serving as the intro track, follows this trend and is key to starting this album out on a high note. Intro songs in the past year have been some of the most important on any Hip-Hop album. “Now I Double R and Ghost it up, I feel spacious” This song, being a trap hit, is a classic Future song that reminds me of the style being some of Future’s greatest songs like “Move That Dope” and “Where Ya At”. Crushed up is the best technical song on this album with a great flow, beat, and mastering which displays the talent of the team around him. The debut single, Crushed Up, off of “The WIZRD” sees Future discussing his lifestyle and love for diamonds. “I put five pointers in the face, you can see it”
